S2 E21 Joshua Sturgill Combat Training for Emotional Stability

First and foremost, I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ! Without Him pouring out His blessings upon me over the last couple years, I can without a doubt say that I would not be living the life I do now, or be pursuing the dreams I have for myself. Because of His grace and power moving through me, I am currently a professional athlete as a mixed martial artist after spending seven years practicing the blended arts. On top of that, I have seven years of Brazilian jiu-jitsu where I am a blue belt rank in the practice. I also have an extensive 14 years of experience in the sport of wrestling, four of which have been spent as part of the Liberty University Wrestling team where I was an accomplished athlete as a 3x national qualifier at the NCWA division 1 level. During my senior year with the Liberty team, I worked double time as a student athlete and worked as a strength & conditioning coach for the team, which, coincidentally is the year that team took home the NCWA National duals tournament trophy as well as the overall National Championships in the same season. I have a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology as a health & fitness specialist. I am going to working at VMI as an intern working with the athletic teams as a strength & conditioning coach for the upcoming academic year 2015-16.

I do spend a lot of time in my training, but when I am not training myself or others I enjoy joy riding on my motorcycle going through the countryside. I really like going to amusement parks even though I do not make much effort to go a lot, but I am always up for the adventure. The one thing that I can do all the time, although I definitely shouldn’t do all the time, is to eat good food. I am addicted to bakeries; all the donuts and cakes are my biggest weakness, along with milkshakes. You can learn more about me from my facebook page (josh sturgill). Other forms of social media to come soon. God bless all.
